What is the recommended dosage for Diphtheria Toxoid + Tetanus Toxoid?

Adults (Td): 0.5 mL IM for primary and booster doses; Children (DT): 0.5 mL IM for primary and booster doses. See dosage section above for more information.

Can DT/Td be administered during pregnancy?

Tdap is recommended during pregnancy, preferably in the third trimester, while Td can be given if Tdap is not available.

What are the common side effects?

Common side effects include local injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling) and mild systemic symptoms (low-grade fever, malaise).

Is there a risk of allergy?

Allergic reactions are rare but possible. Severe allergic reactions are a contraindication to further doses.

What if a dose is missed?

The series should be resumed as soon as possible. It is not necessary to restart the entire series.

How long does immunity last after vaccination?

Protection is not lifelong. Booster doses are recommended every 10 years.

Can other vaccines be given at the same time?

Yes, other vaccines can generally be administered concurrently but should be given with separate syringes at different injection sites.

When is tetanus immunoglobulin indicated instead of Td?

Tetanus immunoglobulin is indicated for wound management in individuals with inadequate tetanus vaccination history, especially in deep or contaminated wounds.

What is the difference between DT and Td?

DT contains a higher concentration of diphtheria toxoid and is for use in children under 7 years of age. Td contains a lower concentration of diphtheria toxoid and is for individuals 7 years and older.
